IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA ADVISORY
WHAT: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, will release on Friday a "Summary for Policymakers" from a report that assesses drivers, effects and future projections of climate change. The summary comes from the Working Group I portion of the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report. NOAA will hold a media briefing call at noon EST, on Friday, Feb. 2, to discuss the IPCC scientific and technical findings just hours after it is released in Paris. Many NOAA scientists authored or reviewed specific chapters in the report, and NOAA climate observation networks, computer modeling labs, and research programs provided much of the data and analysis on which the report is based. The NOAA scientists are available for interviews to discuss the report and answer questions about their specialty in climate science. The IPCC Working Group I report, "Climate Change 2007: The Physical Science Basis," assesses the current scientific knowledge of the natural and human drivers of climate change, observed changes in climate, the ability of science to attribute changes to different causes and projections for future climate change. WHAT: Media briefing phone conference with NOAA climate scientists to discuss IPCC. WHEN: Noon EST on Friday, Feb. 2. WHERE: Contact Kent Laborde at kent.laborde@noaa.gov for dial-in information. WHO:
